Hi! Wow, I haven't posted in a while! Sorry about that! Anyway, I went hunting with my dad and cousin and brother today. We got stuck in this meadow thing, but my dad solved the problem by driving over a bunch of flat rocks. Then, my cousin shot his gun, and the shot was so powerful that the gun kind of went backwards and hit him, leaving this huge cut in his forehead! My dad drove him to the hospital, and he got 15 stitches! My dad felt so bad! Anyway, NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!!! YAY!!!!

Swine Flu

My family and I have the swine flu. It is not fun, so do whatever you can to protect yourself from it. Like, wash your hands and stuff. Seriously. It's closer than you think. But the good thing is, you can only get it once.

Cool Facts

Okay.  Everyone knows about Tinker-bell, right?  If there wasn't a certain family, we wouldn't have Tinker-Bell!  Or Peter Pan!  Or any of the characters!  The book wouldn't exist!  This family's mom had a lung disease, and all she wanted was to be all fun and well, pretty much sparkly!  But she couldn't, because of her disease.  So a friend of the family added Tinker-Bell to the story.  You can watch Finding Never Land to find out more details.  Finding Never Land is a true story.

My Little Brother

On Thanksgiving 2008, my mom had a baby.  His name is Timothy.  He is the cutest baby ever! He laughs a lot, and he smiles a lot.  I love him soooooo much!

Something Hard That I Did

When I was in fourth grade, I decided to do something hard that not many people actually finish.  Something so hard, they give you $50.00 for it!  And a trophy, and your name on a plaque!  You have to read 50 Newberry books, and write a report on each one!  You have until sixth grade to complete it.  And I finished that at the beginning of this month!  We have a big assembly at the end of school, and that is when I will get my prize!  Doing the Newberry contest is a lot harder than it sounds!

2009 Disneyland Trip

Every other year, my grandpa takes us to Disneyland, and we are going this year!  I am so excited!  It's gonna be so fun!  My favorite ride is California Screamin'.  It is so much fun!  My mom made some shirts for us to wear.  They are so cool!  And then my grandpa put little sparkles on all of the girls'!  I am so excited!  And this time, we will have another person on the trip because my little brother was born!

Well, I have an emergency.  There's this girl at school who has been bullying me.  She is a big JERK.  So I have learned some tips to help deal with bullies.  I will put them in order for which works the best.
1.  Say,  "Thank you sooooo much!
2.  Ignore her and just start talking to someone else.
3.  Do the opposite of what she wants you to do.  That way, she will realize that she is not in charge of you.
4.  Make her think you are a dork.  That way, she will think, "Uh oh.  I'll lose my reputation if I'm with this dork anymore."
If you have anymore ideas, just leave a comment.  Thanks!

Mother's Day Craft

My mom does a lot of nice stuff for me.  She makes me food, washes my clothes, she teaches me, and other stuff.  So on Mother's Day, we like to show our mom some appreciation.  My mom likes to look at flowers, so every year we buy a flowerpot and put our hand-prints on it.  Here is a little variation.
1 LARGE flower pot
green paint (you can choose the other colors)
1 paintbrush
Your mom's favorite flowers
Potting soil
Make sure the pot is NOT glazed, because then the paint won't work.  Also, the paint needs to be washable.  Dip one of your hands into the paint of your choice.  Put your hand-print at the top.  Then make more hand-prints in kind of a circle so it looks like a flower.  Then make a stem and leaves with the green paint.  Fill the pot with the dirt, and plant the flowers.  Do it early so the flowers will be blooming by Mother's Day.

My Trip to England

Last summer, I went to England.  We had lots of fun there, and did a lot of cool stuff.  My favorite food I ate there was called a cornish pasty.  I got this recipe from
Ingredients for pastry part:
4 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups lard, chilled (3/4 lb I know it sounds gross but it's not)  cut into 1/4 inch cubes
8-10 tablespoons ice water
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Ingredients for filling part:
1 cup coarsely chopped white, yellow, or Swede (Rutabaga) turnips
2 cups finely diced lean boneless beef, top round or skirt steak (Flank would be good too)
1 cup coarsely chopped onions
2 cups finely diced potatoes
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

To make pastry, rub together flour and fat to make a coarse meal.  Add 8 tablespoons ice water all at once.  If dough crumbles, add more water.  Refrigerate to rest one hour before rolling out.  Roll dough to a circle 1/4 inch thick and cut into six inch rounds.  Re-roll and scraps and cut into additional circles.
To prepare filling, cut ingredients into uniformly small pieces.  It's important to have the potatoes and the meat cooked during the same time period since they will be cooking together, so cut to appropriately sized cubes to effect that end result.
Combine ingredients in a bowl to mix evenly.  Put 1/4 cup of the mixture into the center of a rolled out pastry.
Moisten pasty edges, fold in half, and crimp to seal.  Place on a buttered baking sheet and brush lightly with egg wash.  make 2 slits in each pasty to allow steam to escape.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes, reduce heat and continue at 350 degrees F until golden.
Serve hot or cold.

I know this recipe sounds kind of gross, but it is delicious!  Give a good comment if you like it!

I am going to post a couple recipes now.  I got this first recipe from the May/June 2009 edition of American Girls Magazine.

Grated cheese (you can choose how much)
Your favorite pizza topping
1 bagel

Cut the bagel in half.  Sprinkle the cheese on top of the cut side of the bagel.  Put your toppings on, and microwave for 20 seconds.  If the cheese is not melted by then, put it in for another 20 seconds.  Let cool.

The next one is also from the American Girls magazine.  It is a recipe for many different kinds of smoothies, so I will tell about one.

Red Cherry Berry Smoothie

1/2 cup frozen cherries
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup raspberry sherbet
3/4 cup apple juice

This is pretty simple.  just blend together well.
